Hi! Welcome to the website dedicated to the Cassidy Theatre's production of the musical Violet. Violet is one of those little-produced and little-known comtemporary musical theatre gems that immediately entrances audiences and listeners. The last time Violet was produced in Cleveland was at Cain Park in 2000 and reviewer Keith Joseph said "At a time when most musicals are based on old movies, here we have one that is original and audacious" and said Violet "deserves to be experienced and appreciated for demonstrating that the musical form is still thriving and evolving". The Cassidy production will even feature real-life gospel choir The Prayer Warriors which will lend an incredible authenticity to the pivotal scene in which Violet meets the Preacher! Meet the Director -Geoff Short!
Geoff is thrilled to be Directing Violet, one of his favorite musicals and one he is very passionate about. He has performed in musical theatre productions on area stages for over 30 years. Geoff is a singer and songwriter who has written music for radio and television as well as the stage. He has appeared on television and radio and has shared the stage with music legends Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Leslie Gore and Tommy James and the Shondells. He most recently appeared in the Cleveland Playhouse Club Cabaret "Motown!" in January and February. Geoff was also the co-host of the weekly on-air segment "Cheap Date" seen on WKYC TV-3.
